Why Pursue?
A few years ago, I was lost. My life was a mess. Most weekends I went for long walks and my earliest Instagram posts are all pictures of random paths. I’d lost my purpose and direction.
Then I won a competition to play in a shed at Big Church Day Out (yes, you read that right) and found myself looking at the various merchandise on sale at the stalls. A bible verse on a decorative stand jumped out as though God Himself had surrounded it with miniature angels all pointing and shouting “look here, over here.”
Trust in the Lord with all your heart…
Seek His will in all you do
and He will show you which path to take.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Suddenly, my new found obsession photographing paths made complete sense. My destination – the focus of my life – wasn’t to be found in humanistic goals. The focus of my life was to walk the path God had prepared for me, worshipping Him in all that I did.
Pursue can be defined as ‘continuing or proceeding along a path’ – as Christians we proceed along a path prepared for us by a loving Father.
But it’s more than that.
Pursue can also be defined as ‘to follow or chase something’. We don’t just follow the Father; as worshippers we actively chase after the Father’s heart. And we don’t need to do this alone. I’m a travelling worship leader. Everywhere I go, I keep meeting people that have a passion for honest, Spirit-filled worship and a pursuit of the Father that goes beyond wanting to be a band performing on stage for our congregation’s entertainment.
I also keep meeting people who feel isolated, who don’t realise just how many skilled people there are in the South West, and don’t know where to go for help.
The Pursue Network is for anybody who is involved in worship in their church – leaders, musicians, technicians or creatives. It is an opportunity to pursue the Father’s heart alongside a community of help and support.
Thank you for joining us on this journey!
